There's a place for you in the village.
Schools, funders, elders, artists, and neighbors all have a role. Here is how to work with Ubuntu Village.
Schools & youth organizations
If you lead a school, a district program, an after-school program, or a youth-serving organization, we can help you design culturally grounded programming and prepare your team to run it. Partnerships usually follow four steps:
- Conversation. We learn about your young people, your staff, your community, and what you hope to change.
- Co-design. Together we shape a program around your setting: a rite of passage, an arts project, a curriculum unit, or a land-based learning series.
- Training. We prepare the educators, mentors, and elders who will lead the work, and stay available as they begin.
- Reflection. We look back with you at what worked, what young people and families said, and how to keep the work going.
Funders & grantmakers
Ubuntu Village is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 42-4285210), and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. In our founding year we welcome general operating support, program support, and capacity-building support, and we are glad to talk with funders early, before a formal application.
- Our IRS determination letter and organizational documents are available on request.
- We will prepare program budgets and proposals tailored to your priorities.
- We report honestly on what we learn, including what does not work.
Elders, artists, mentors & neighbors
The village is made of people. If you are an elder with traditions to pass on, an artist with a practice to share, a mentor who wants to walk with young people, or a gardener or land steward with space to offer, there is work for you. You might co-host a gathering, teach a workshop, serve as a mentor in a rite of passage, or help with a land project.
Tell us a little about yourself and what you would like to offer, and we will be in touch as opportunities open in your community.
Individual donors
Our founding-year campaign asks 100 families to help us raise $10,000 by December 31. Every gift, at any size, helps us launch our first programs and shows foundations that our community stands behind this work. Learn how your gift is used.
